Please note that we are closed Mondays, Fridays and most major holidays, and that our usual office hours are approximately 10:00am - 6:00pm.
But why all the extra fees?
We know many places can turn around alterations quickly for no extra charge, and without a fee to hold your appointment, if you even need an appointment at all. We are not those places. Because we do a large variety of things (not just alterations) and we are a very small business (just the two of us), our calendar fills up weeks and even months in advance. When you need a rush alteration, that means we are staying late or coming in on a day off to complete the work quickly for you. The rush fee is essentially our overtime pay for the extra hours we'll spend working just for you.
Now, the appointment fee - this one probably seems crazy to you, but here's why we have it: people keep making appointments for rush alterations, and then not showing up, without letting us know they can't make it. It's frustrating, to say the least; when we are expecting an appointment, we stop what we are working on in anticipation of that person's arrival. And then we wait. And wait. Wasting time when we could be working on the other projects in our calendar. Or when we've come in early or stayed late specifically to accommodate this person. Worse yet is that this no-show has taken up an appointment time that another client probably wanted! Which means we've lost both our time and potential income. Consequently, we've instituted the appointment fee, which is applied to the cost of the alteration.
We understand that advance planning is not always possible and emergencies sometimes happen, and we WANT to accommodate you; the appointment fee shows us that you are as committed as we are to the time we're setting aside for you.
I dreamed of a tea-length dress even though I couldn't find one. Crafty Broads transformed my second-hand David's Bridal dress into something unique and awesome. They took in my dress and hemmed it to my knees. It looked better than I'd expected, because they had the brilliant idea to leave the lace layer slightly longer than the lining. With extra fabric from the hem, they made matching cap sleeves and a veil. Each suggestion was carefully considered - I loved listening to them brainstorm ideas to come up with the best plan. After I picked out red shoes, they suggested a red sash, and even made my groom a matching red tie! The result was wonderful! Best of all, their prices were extremely reasonable, and Cindy and Julia were just so down-to-earth and easy to work with.
